GOVERNMENT PUBLISHES FISHERIES BILL TO ‘TAKE BACK CONTROL OF OUR WATERS’… All fish stocks in UK waters will be fished at sustainable levels after Brexit, the government says, as it publishes new legislation. The Fisheries Bill gives the UK power to operate as an independent coastal state and guarantees it will quit the EU Common Fisheries Policy in December. Environment group Greener UK welcomed the focus on sustainability.  But fishing is likely to be a key area of contention in post-Brexit trade talks between the EU and UK. The Common Fisheries Policy currently sets out how much British fishermen can catch and where. It also allows vessels registered elsewhere in the EU to fish in UK waters – but the new legislation will end those automatic rights of access. Instead, access will be for the UK to negotiate in the future and foreign vessels will have to be licensed if they fish in British waters. Earlier this week, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar told the BBC the UK “may hav...

Brexit blog Uk VISA immigration

Hardly had the electronic ink dried on  my previous post , which included some discussion of the government’s approach to the business effects of Brexit, than  Sajid Javid gave a clear and strong indication  of just what that is to be. In an interview with the  Financial Times , the Chancellor stated that “there will not be alignment” with EU regulations, that businesses have already had since 2016 to prepare for this, and still have until the end of the year to “adjust”. In a way, there was nothing new in this. Ever since Boris Johnson came to power, and certainly since the changes to the Withdrawal Agreement and Political Declaration that followed, it has been clear that his government will be far less committed to alignment than, even, Theresa May’s (the ‘even’ is worth stressing since, of course, she had already taken the biggest step towards divergence by ruling out single market membership). Yet Javid’s was perhaps the hardest statement so far, and significan...

Importance of Motorbike Clothing

The right motorbike clothing can make all the difference to your ride. Too-thin pants or non-reflective clothing will leave you uncomfortable or put you in more danger of an accident. Accidents are sadly all-too-common for motorbike riders, even if you are as responsible as possible on the road. Leather clothing works as a second skin, and protects you in the event of an accident. In a situation that might damage your skin, leather clothing will bear the trauma instead. Be proactive about keeping yourself safe on the road by investing in the right motorbike clothing--it might make all the difference. In addition to protecting you in case of an accident, the right biker wear can help prevent an accident from ever occurring. Invest in pieces with reflective material. When put in contact with the light of incoming traffic, your clothing will glow, enabling other drivers to see you clearly in the darkness. Without this reflective wear, drivers are much less likely to notice you o...
